Part of the Lincolnshire coast will be lit up in a "celebration of light, creativity and community spirit".

Lightwaves starts on Friday in Chapel St Leonards, before moving to Sutton on Sea on Saturday.

Organisers of the free event, SessionArts, promise "a unique blend of illuminated art, live performance and storytelling".

Director Bruce Knight said: "It's a wonderful opportunity to bring together artists, schools, and local communities to celebrate creativity in a truly unique way."

The event is backed by several councils.

From 18:00 BST, there will be a fire garden installation in the centre of Chapel St Leonards and an interactive UV fish tank by Earthbound Misfits at the North Sea Observatory.

A self-led walk will follow the beachside path from the village centre to the observatory, with participants asked to bring their own lights to illuminate themselves.

The celebration continues on Saturday from 18:00 in Sutton on Sea, where the high street will become "a corridor of light and activity", said organisers.

The evening will feature illuminated installations, digital art and live performances.

A lantern parade will begin at 18:30, led by schoolchildren and community groups.

In the lead-up to the event, Lumo Workshop artists Nadya Monfrinoli and Lou Jones will deliver lantern-making workshops.

These will include closed sessions at Sutton on Sea Community Primary School and Chapel St Leonards Primary School, as well as public workshops at Seaview Colonnade on Tuesday and at the Methodist Church on Wednesday.
