Ex-police officers barred over standards breaches

Insp Wes Wilkie and PC Mohammed Rezgui were both found to have breached standards of professional behaviour

Two former Sussex Police officers have been barred from working in policing after separate misconduct hearings.
Insp Wes Wilkie, who was based at Brighton, and PC Mohammed Rezgui, based in Lewes, would both have been dismissed with immediate effect had they not already resigned from the force.
Wilkie was alleged to have breached standards of professional behaviour after he was witnessed inappropriately touching a female officer on a night out.
Rezgui was found to have posted numerous offensive, racist, misogynistic, and homophobic messages in an online chat group.
Chief Constable Jo Shiner, from Sussex Police, who carried out the hearings, said: “The actions of these two officers have tarnished the name of Sussex Police, have discredited thousands of hard-working and supremely conscientious colleagues and above all else, have failed the people of Sussex who put their trust in us.
“There is no place in the force for such conduct which has been reflected in the outcomes of the hearings.”
