Police are investigating the death of a man was found with fatal injuries in Sutton Coldfield.

Officers were called to Broome Gardens by paramedics at around 06:30 GMT on Wednesday after the injured man, aged in his 30s, was found, West Midlands Police said.

The victim, whose death is being treated as unexplained, was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

He may have been the victim of a stabbing in Erdington on Tuesday, the force believes.

Investigations began after West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics were called about 22:20 following reports of the stabbing in Wood End Road, Erdington.

Witness appeal

"Crews found a man with serious but not life-threatening injuries and treated him at the scene," a spokesperson for the service said.

"He did not wish to go to hospital and so was given self-care advice and discharged."

Officers are currently carrying out inquiries in Erdington High Street, which is close to Wood End Road.

Witnesses have been urged to contact police.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held to establish the cause of the man's death.
