A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found another man dead following a call reporting concerns for his welfare.
The 59-year-old was found at an address on Astbury Avenue in Chorlton, Manchester, at about 23:35 GMT on Sunday, police said.
Another man, 47, was arrested shortly afterwards.
Greater Manchester Police said they believe the victim and the arrested man knew each other and were treating the incident as "isolated".
Another crime scene was being established on nearby Woodlake Avenue in connection with the incident, the force added.
Det Ch Insp Mark Davis said: "We are working hard to establish the full facts and circumstances, carefully working through all the detail and evidence available to us.
“As we continue our work, I would ask anyone with any information that may assist the investigation to please get in touch with us. The key times I would ask for information from is between 9pm and 11pm on Sunday.
"This could be something suspicious you’ve seen or heard, or CCTV or doorbell footage from the area. Any information you have could assist our investigation."
Police said a Home Office post-mortem was due to take place.
