Illegal tobacco and vapes worth £670k seized

More than £600,000 worth of illegal cigarettes, tobacco and vapes were seized during a raid at a storage facility in Stoke-on-Trent.

Trading Standards and Staffordshire Police officers discovered 638,380 cigarettes, 108kg of hand-rolling tobacco and 1,262 vapes when they raided the premises in Etruria.

The retail value of the items was believed to be £671,363, a Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesperson confirmed, and they were found in two shipping containers at the site.

The person who hired the containers which stored the goods is now under investigation, they added.
