No parcels were damaged in a fire at the Evri warehouse in Bristol, the delivery firm has said.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) sent 16 engines to the site on Boundary Road in Avonmouth, after being called just before 13.30 BST on Tuesday.

Footage shared on social media showed flames at the warehouse and large plumes of dark smoke visible from the nearby M5 motorway.

Evri said the fire was extinguished by 16.00 BST, and an investigation is now underway.

A spokesperson added: "We can confirm that no one was injured in yesterday's fire and no parcels were damaged.

"The damage was mostly superficial, and the site will be operational [again] in the coming hours.

"The site handles a very small proportion of our total deliveries and we’re working hard minimise disruption to service.

"A small number of customers may see a slight delay [of] 24 to 48 hours following re-routing yesterday."
