Staff at a supermarket have been robbed for the second time in three weeks.

A man threatened employees with a knife at the Sainsbury's Local on Corporation Road, Darlington, before taking money from a till, Durham Police said.

The robbery, which was reported to police at about 22:00 GMT on Sunday, comes after a similar incident on 13 November which also involved a knife.

A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "The safety of our colleagues is our highest priority and we have a range of security measures in place to protect them."

The force would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or saw a man acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

"A man is believed to have threatened staff members with a knife before taking a quantity of cash from the till," a spokesperson said.
