People living in part of Wolverhampton are being urged to share their thoughts on £3.3m plans to revamp their high street.

Design options will explore ways to bring more people into Wednesfield and support local businesses by improving areas such as the fronts of shops and the market.

Work on the site was expected to start later this year and will take about 18 months to complete, the city council said.

Plans will be available to view on 19 March at Wednesfield Market, on a stall outside Heron Foods, between 10:00-15:00 GMT.

They will remain on display at Wednesfield Library throughout the six-week consultation, the authority said.

The project is being funded through money from the government.

The scheme would make a "major difference" to Wednesfield's town centre, Ninder Johal, chair of Wolverhampton’s City Investment Board, said.

“It is important the public have the chance to express their views on the design options before final plans are put in place,” he added.

Councillor Craig Collingswood added: “It is important we maximise this funding to provide the best possible outcome for Wednesfield and make a tangible difference to its residents, businesses and visitors."
