Snow has fallen on Exmoor after temperatures overnight plummeted.

Pictures from Somerset Council show ploughs out on the National Park removing snow from the roads.

An accompanying message on social media said: "Scenes from Exmoor last night - Porlock Hill, Simonsbath and Exford, our teams hard at work with the snow plough in action.

"Just goes to show. Winter isn't over until it's over."

Temperatures dropped to freezing overnight

The A39 at Culbone between Porlock and Lynmouth is also currently blocked, with motorists urged to only travel if it is necessary.

While no more snow is forecast, there is a Met Office yellow weather warning for wind until 6pm on Thursday, which covers parts of Somerset.

There is also heavy rain forcast for the region, which is predicted to break into thundery weather later in the day.
