Two men have been jailed for life for murdering a man in his own flat during a robbery.

Father-of-three Dominic Wilson, 43, died after being stabbed at his home in Upper Church Road, Weston-super-Mare, in the early hours of 27 November last year.

Andrew Dymock, 33, of Queens Avenue, Portishead, and Robert White, 37, of no fixed address, were found guilty of murdering Mr Wilson - after stabbing him in the leg - last week.

His family welcomed the sentences, handed down at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday, but said "nothing will bring Dominic back".

In a statement, Mr Wilson's family said: "We are grateful the jury were able to reach the right decision and that they found both males guilty of attacking and then murdering Dominic in a place where he should have been able to feel safe.

“Nothing will bring Dominic back to his mum, his three children and his family.

The statement continued: “We have been torn apart by the events of that morning, but this result at least gives us some sense of justice and a sense of relief that these two men will be held accountable for their actions.

“Rest in heavenly peace Dominic."

Dymock and White had stolen the keys to Mr Wilson's flat during a robbery earlier that evening, which they carried out with Kerry Miles, 39, and Zachery Stone, 26, both of Dickenson Road, Weston-super-Mare.

Dymock and White used the keys to access the flat where Mr Wilson was staying.

Within the 74 total seconds they were inside the flat, they both robbed and fatally stabbed him.

Officers were initially called by the victim of the earlier robbery, and upon taking him back to his home, found Mr Wilson in a serious condition.

Despite their best efforts to save him using CPR, Mr Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigating the death discovered a knife in a nearby drain.

All four men were charged with – and pleaded guilty to – robbery.

Mrs Justice Yip sentenced Dymock and White to life in prison with a minimum term of 26 years.

They were each also sentenced to five years and nine months and 10 years for the two robberies with these sentences to run concurrently.

Stone was sentenced to three years in prison, while Miles received four years.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Simon Dewfall said: “These sentences reflect the seriousness of their offending which shockingly led to Dominic losing his life.

“My thoughts remain with Dominic’s family as they continue to process the awful events of 27 November and I am pleased justice has been served.

“This was a violent and utterly senseless attack.

"It’s been a challenging investigation and I’d like to thank everyone involved for their efforts.”
