Main roads salted following snowfall in Jersey
- Published
Main roads in Jersey have been salted to prevent freezing and accidents, the government has said.
It said teams from Infrastructure and Environment had been out since 02:00 GMT salting roads. It added most were "clear of ice and snow".
An orange ice and snow warning was issued for the island on Tuesday, which was in place until Wednesday morning.
The government said country lanes had not been salted so could be icy and it advised islanders to adjust their driving according to the conditions.
The government added that "well-used" pavements and paths in St Helier had been salted, but pedestrians and cyclists were asked to "take extra caution".
Jersey Met has issued a yellow warning, with further sleet or snow showers "likely" for Wednesday evening, which could "lead to icy patches tonight and into Thursday morning".
