People aged between 16 and 24 make up a disproportionate number of road casualties in Surrey

A road safety campaign aimed at young people is being launched in Surrey on Monday.

Surrey County Council said 16 to 24-year-olds made up 20% of road casualties in the county between March 2022 and February 2025, with 449 killed or seriously injured.

The "It's Your Move Campaign" will use social media and target schools and colleges.

The authority said it wanted young road users to see road safety "not as a restriction, but as a smart, confident and socially respected choice".

The campaign will feature a digital game that lets new drivers test their ability to spot hazards.

It will run from 1 to 5 September.
