Teen in court on murder charge after crash victim dies

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman hit by a car last month died.

The incident happened at Heol Trelai, Caerau, in Cardiff, at about 00:30 BST on 27 September after a driver crashed into three pedestrians.

Shelley Davies, 38, from Caerau, was injured but died at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, on Saturday, police said.

Kian Bateman, 18, of Heol Muston, Ely appeared for a short hearing at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Monday, and was remanded in custody until a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court.

Following the crash, Mr Bateman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has now been charged with the murder of Ms Davies, and grievous bodily harm in relation to a second victim, David Bratcher.
