Detectives investigating the kidnapping of a woman have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses who may have been approached by someone in a car.

A woman was forced into a car and kidnapped in the early hours of 5 August after she was asked for directions by a man at the junction of Selborne Road and Church Road in Hove, police said.

The victim escaped from the vehicle a short distance later in First Avenue and called for help.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have been approached by a man who got out of a dark-coloured Mini in the Brighton and Hove area between 17.30 BST on 4 August and 18.30 the following day.

The vehicle involved was later recovered and a man was arrested and charged.

Cameron Boxall, 21, of Carden Hill, Brighton, was charged with kidnapping, theft of a vehicle, theft from a vehicle, driving without a licence and insurance, making off without payment, and possession of cannabis.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 12 September.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police.
