A man involved in a moped crash has died in hospital, police have said.

Officers responded to a report of a crash between a dark-coloured moped and a parked car on Butterworth Street, in Swindon at about 00:30 BST on 1 August.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition and has since passed away.

Wiltshire Police said he had suffered a "medical episode" prior to the crash, which has been recorded as the cause of death.

The incident was initially referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to police contact with the moped rider prior to the incident.

The IOPC has since determined there is not a necessity to direct an investigation and the matter has been returned to Wiltshire Police to consider locally, the force said.
