About 40 firefighters from nine fire stations are tackling a large property fire in Devon.

The fire in Shebbear was reported to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service at 10:03 BST.

The service said it first sent three fire engines, then mobilised an additional fire engine, aerial ladder and a water carrier because of the remote location of the property.

On arrival, the property was found to be empty but "well alight" and two further fire engines were sent, together with a second water carrier.

The fire service said at the height of the fire there were about 40 firefighters on the scene with six fire engines and four special appliances.

It expects crews to be at the scene for most of the day.
