A charity has said it is "shocked and deeply upset" after one of its shops was vandalised.

On Monday morning Thames Valley Hospice discovered its charity shop on Church Street in Caversham, Berkshire, had been covered in red paint.

The charity is appealing for anybody who knows what happened to contact police.

The shop is still open for its normal trading hours.

Thames Valley Police have said that the event occurred between Sunday at 23:20 GMT and Monday at 06:15 GMT.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
