A “highly dangerous” gunman who shot his victim in the street in broad daylight has been jailed for more than 15 years.

Caleb Fleming, 26, shot a man in Slough, Berkshire, last November and was jailed at Reading Crown Court on Friday.

Fleming and his co-defendant, Michael Christian, 28, were both involved in the supply of cannabis, which resulted in a confrontation with Fleming’s victim in Tamarisk Way.

A police officer said Slough “is a safer place with Fleming off the streets”.

A man in his 20s was shot by Fleming at about 16:00 GMT on 21 November.

The victim needed surgery to remove a bullet but has since recovered.

Fleming, of Long Furlong Drive, Slough, earlier admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of cannabis.

He was jailed for a total of 15 years and nine months, with an extended four years on licence, and must forfeit £1,286.52.

Christian, of Fairview Road, Taplow, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

He was jailed for three years and four months.

Det Insp Stuart May, of Thames Valley Police, said: “Thankfully, incidents involving firearms are incredibly rare, but I know the impact such incidents have in our communities.

“Caleb Fleming is a highly dangerous individual and has now been convicted and sentenced for these offences and will serve a lengthy prison sentence, while Christian has also been held to account for his criminal activity.

“Slough is a safer place with Fleming off the streets, and I hope that this outcome will go some way to reassuring the community that we will always seek to put dangerous offenders behind bars where they belong.”
