Your guide to the 2024 Suffolk Show
- Published
It is that time of year again. More than 90,000 people are expected to descend on Trinity Park in Ipswich on Wednesday and Thursday for one of the biggest agricultural shows in the region.
What is the Suffolk Show?
The Suffolk Show has been championing the county's food, farming and agricultural heritage since 1831.
It takes place in Trinity Park in Ipswich, which has been home to the event since 1960.
Known for its livestock competitions, it has more than 100 food stalls and 800 trade stands - as well as demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as thatching and blacksmithing.
Any highlights?
Families should look out for the Shetland Pony Grand National and Mascots Race in the President’s Ring.
The RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team and the Red Devils Army Parachute Display Team will drop into the Collins Grand Ring on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Visitors can expect the return of the Farm4Future zone, live demonstrations and interactive displays of state-of-the-art machinery - and there will be a static replica of a Spitfire in Normandy 80.
Children can also experience the industry with a mini-farm and learn about sustainability and the challenges in farming today.
How do we get tickets?
You can buy e-tickets online in advance, or buy your ticket on the gates both days at full price.
Adult tickets are £35, senior citizens £30, 15 to 18 year-olds are £13 and under-14s go free.
Organisers have a list of 100 things, external you can do at the show for free.
How do we get there and park?
Gates open at 07:00 BST on both days, with last entry at 19:00 on Wednesday and 17:30 on Thursday. Trade stands open from 08:30 to 18:00.
Car: Follow the yellow AA signs near the park which will direct visitors to the designated car parks and gates. There are two free public car parks - the Red (Bucklesham to the East) and Blue (Foxhall to the North)
Bus: Regular bus services are available from Ipswich central and Ipswich railway station. A Shuttle Bus operated by Ipswich Buses will run from the station to Trinity Park on both days of the Show
Bike: There's a dedicated cycle park at Gate 1, off the Felixstowe Road entrance
Train: Ipswich railway station is 10 miles from Trinity Park. Ipswich buses will run a shuttle service from the train station to the Show.
Are there any road closures?
Trinity Park is easily accessible from both the A14 and A12.
The organisers are working with Suffolk Police and Suffolk County Council to manage traffic to and from Trinity Park during the two days.
The traffic island on Felixstowe Road will be removed to create a dual lane route to the Bucklesham entrance from the A14/A12 Seven Hills Roundabout.
What about disabled access?
Both public car parks feature designated spaces for disabled parking.
Show organisers say parking will be prioritised for disabled visitors and discretion will be shown to individuals with non-visible disabilities.
Accompanying carers are admitted free of charge.
Event Mobility Charitable Trust will provide electric scooters and manual wheelchairs for the use of disabled, elderly and mobility-impaired visitors to the show.
There will be a hospitality centre for disabled people at the Show, offering a quiet place to rest and buy refreshments. All toilet blocks have accessible toilets for disabled visitors.
There are designated viewing areas by three of the main rings for visitors with disabilities.
