Acting chief taking over as council boss next week

An acting chief executive will assume the top job at Lancashire County Council next month, almost two months before the current boss leaves the role.
Mark Wynn – who is currently the authority’s executive director of resources – is set to lead the council, on a temporary basis, from 1 August.
The move is part of the preparations for the departure of Angie Ridgwell, who has held the post of chief executive for the past six-and-a-half years.
She leaves on 25 September, but the Local Democracy Reporting Service understands the pair will work together in the meantime in order to ensure continuity when the official handover takes place.
Following Ms Ridgwell's departure, Mr Wynn will remain in charge as the interim chief executive until a permanent replacement is announced.
The permanent position is not expected to be filled until next year.
Ms Ridgwell is leaving the Lancashire authority – the fourth-largest local authority in the country – in order to take up the equivalent post at Hertfordshire County Council.
In his current role, which he has held for almost two years, Mr Wynn is responsible for promoting “transformational change” across the authority and supporting the delivery of its corporate priorities.
Meanwhile, a senior Lancashire County Council finance leader has left the authority after 23 years. Director of finance Neil Kissock moved into the same role at Bury Council earlier this month.
