What have been the big stories in the West this week?
Students across the UK received their GCSE results this week and schools throughout the West of England have been celebrating. Bristol Live showcased some of the top performing schools, external in this article.
Earlier in the week, work began to remove padlocks locked onto the rails of Pero's Bridge in Bristol. Bristol City Council said it was removing the locks to relieve the bridge of three tonnes of extra weight. These "love locks" could now be transformed into artwork, external.
Clevedon had another moment of fame this week, as Rivals stars Rupert Everett and Hayley Atwell were spotted in the coastal town, external while filming for series two on Disney+. The show is based on Dame Jilly Cooper's "iconic" steamy romance novels, which centre around a group of wealthy, cut-throat media types in the 1980s based in the Cotswolds.
And good news for cider lovers. Somerset Live reported on how Somerset cider producers, Thatchers, had launched its earliest harvest on record, external - a full 10 days ahead of schedule - due to this year's prolonged hot summer.
There have been amusing claims, reported Bristol Live, that the late Queen showed her "mischievous" side when she "refused to open the new Bristol Airport terminal, external" after a relative, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, said he was prevented from taking his shotguns on a flight from Bristol to Aberdeen.
