A mother has pleaded not guilty to murder after her two-week-old son died in hospital earlier this year.

Brendon Staddon was born prematurely at 33 weeks on 20 February, and died at Yeovil District Hospital on 5 March.

Sophie Staddon, 20, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on 4 October, and pleaded not guilty to his murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Daniel Gunter, 25, also stands accused of both charges. He entered not guilty pleas to both at a previous appearance at the court in April.

A case management hearing will take place in April 2025, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The defendants, of no fixed address, remain in custody.
