Yeovil baby death: Two people charged with murder

Two people have been charged with murder following the death of a two-week-old baby.
Daniel Gunter, 25, and Sophie Staddon, 20, were charged on Thursday with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
Avon and Somerset Police said the charges follow the death of Brendon Staddon after an incident at Yeovil District Hospital on Tuesday.
Officers were called by staff at the hospital, the force added.
The baby died at about 05.00 GMT, police said.
Ms Staddon and Mr Gunter, both of no fixed address, made brief appearances at Taunton Magistrates' Court earlier, where they were remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Monday.
Senior investigating officer, Det Insp Mark Newbury, said: "This is a particularly tragic case in which a very young baby has died, and our thoughts are with Brendon's loved ones during this time.
"We have been carrying out inquiries at the hospital this week, and we're grateful to the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and their staff for their assistance in enabling us to do this."
