Snow falls across Somerset forcing schools to close

Snow has been falling in parts of Somerset, with several school closures in place.

A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place until 10:30 GMT on Thursday, with drivers and cyclists being urged to take care on the roads.

Cutcombe CofE First School, Castle Cary Primary School, Priddy Primary School, Exford CofE First School and Churchstanton Primary School are fully closed until Friday.

Fiveways Special School and Kingsmead School are partially closed throughout Thursday.

The snow settled in Wheddon Cross in Exmoor on Thursday morning.

The snow could also be seen on the Blackdown Hills and the Mendip Hills.

Temperatures dipped well below zero degrees Celsius on Wednesday night and is expected to drop even lower on Thursday night.
