Two teenagers believed to have been riding the same motorcycle have died in a crash with a car.

The two boys, aged 16 and 17, were riding along Lower Broughton Road in Salford when the collision happened as they went to turn into Clarence Street at 20:20 BST on Thursday, police said.

The pair were taken to hospital where they later died from their injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said the driver of a silver Vauxhall Viva, a 24-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and was not arrested.

Witnesses and anyone with information or footage of the crash have been urged to contact the force.

Det Sgt Matt Waggett described the incident as "heartbreaking" and said officers were supporting the boys' families.

He said. "Our investigation continues so we can give them the answers they deserve."
