A road in Devon was closed on Sunday after a car left it and hit a sign, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to the A38 at the bottom of Haldon Hill at about 15:40 GMT.

The car's two occupants were safely freed from it and taken to hospital, police said.

"Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or changing," the force added.

The road, also know as the Devon Expressway on the section involved, was closed by National Highways, which was lifting restrictions "one lane at a time", police said.
