A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a large house fire in a rural village last week.

A man in his 60s has been released under investigation while police continue their enquiries into the blaze on Codford high street, near Warminster, Wiltshire.

The house fire was reported at 22:40 GMT on 31 October with around 35 firefighters tackling it at one point.

Wiltshire Police and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have been jointly investigating the incident at the georgian property.

Firefighters spent most of the next day dampening it down.

The incident involved firefighters from several stations including Warminster, Wilton, Westbury, Salisbury and Amesbury.

Crews and equipment from Yeovil were also deployed to the scene.
