Police get extra time to question terror suspects

Police now have until 17 September to question the four men arrested on Friday

Four men arrested across West Yorkshire and the Midlands on suspicion of terrorism offences can continue to be questioned for up to another week, police have said.
The men were arrested on Friday in Huddersfield, Leeds, Derby and West Bromwich, on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism.
Counter Terrorism Policing North East said a warrant of further detention had been granted and they now had until 17 September to quiz the men.
Det Ch Supt James Dunkerley said there was "not believed to be any immediate risk to the public in connection with our ongoing investigation".
Police are usually allowed to hold suspects for 24 hours before charging or releasing them.
They can apply to hold people for up to four days for serious suspected crimes, such as murder, and up to 14 days for those arrested under the Terrorism Act.
Police have already been given more time to hold the four men after an extension was granted by the court on Saturday.
The men are aged between 31 and 49 and officers said their arrests had been "pre-planned and intelligence-led".
Police confirmed a number of properties had been searched as part of the investigation in Leeds, Huddersfield, Derby, West Bromwich and Hounslow.
The man who was arrested at an address in West Bromwich usually lived in London, police added.
