Man charged with firearms offences after fight

A man has been charged with firearms offences after a gun allegedly went off during a fight in Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police officers were called to White Thorns View in the Batemoor area after reports of a firearms discharge at 23:20 BST on Monday.
The gun was suspected to have gone off after an alleged fight between a group of men and a 41-year-old woman, in which the woman suffered a suspected stab wound, police said.
A 39-year-old man was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent.
He was due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday.
The woman remains in hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
No-one is believed to have been injured as a result of the gun going off, police said.
