The Guernsey Love Food Hate Waste recipe calendar is set to feature its best recipes since it started in 2016.

Organiser Tina Norman-Ross said: "This year we thought it was time to give our chefs a break and instead reuse some of their favourite recipes."

The aim of the calendar is to help people think about how to reduce the amount of food that ends up as waste with an estimated £10m worth of food being thrown away each year in Guernsey.

It includes simple, practical steps incorporating ingredients kept in most store cupboards and can be picked up free from local supermarkets across the island.

Guernsey Waste said more than 3,500 tonnes were collected annually from local households and claims about two thirds of which "could have been eaten".

Mrs Norman-Ross, waste minimisation and sustainability manager, said; "By cutting down on your food waste, you could save around £900 next year - all it takes is just a few small changes, then you can think about what to do with the extra money you save."
