A centenarian couple have celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary.

Dorothy Walter, 103, and Tim Walter, 102, met as 18-year-olds in Southampton during World War Two, when they were making planes in a factory.

The couple, who now live together in a care home in Wingham, Kent, married when they were 21.

They said the secret to their long and successful marriage was the fact they "never argue".

Mr Walter said: “We were happy together, always happy together.

“I used to get on a bike in the evening to see her”.

Mrs Walter said: “It’s a long time ago, we just took to each other. He took me to the pictures, that was it.

“We agree, we discuss, we don’t row."

She added: "We can’t believe it’s 81 years."

Following the war, the pair moved to Elmstone and spent 32 years there as farmers.

They also travelled around Europe on a boat.

They lived in their own home until they were 101-years-old, before moving into residential care in 2022.

The couple had two daughters, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
