Motorway to be closed 10 times for flood work

The M50 will be closed in phases until next spring

A maintenance scheme running the length of the M50 will see it closed in phases to tackle flooding issues.
The drainage system on both sides of the carriageway between junction four of the M50 and junction eight of the M5 will cleaned and repaired, with vegetation removed as part of the scheme.
The first closure will take place from junction two of the M50 to junction eight of the M5 from 20:00 BST until 06:00 on Tuesday.
Diversion routes will be signposted during all 10 closures, which will end in April 2026.
Dan Bothwick, National Highways project manager, said workers will carry out grass cutting, barrier repairs and clean signs while the motorway is closed.
"We will consider whether any resurfacing work can be carried out and also carry out repairs to damaged safety netting," he added.
"We want to utilise the closures as much as possible to avoid further disruption for drivers."
All of the closures will run from 20:00 to 06:00. The full list:
