Speed limits have been reduced on some roads in Jersey - with some cut in half - in a bid to improve road safety, the government has said.

Speed limit signs were updated in St Peter on Thursday to encourage active travel and help road users feel safe, the infrastructure and environment department said.

Six roads have had speed limits halved from 40mph to 20mph, 12 roads have had speed limits reduced from 40mph to 30mph, and two roads have been lowered from 30mph to 20mph.

The government said notable changes included Le Mont Fallu and Le Vieux Beaumont (40mph to 30mph), and a small section of La Grand Route de St Pierres (30mph to 20mph).

Officials said it followed a review in partnership with the roads committee and the parish.
