A woman died from severe injuries to her torso after being involved in a crash in North Yorkshire, an inquest has heard.

Elizabeth Cross, 38, from Easingwold, died at the scene of a collision on the A19 near Birdforth on 11 June.

A woman in her 40s, who was driving the car which struck Ms Cross’ Vauxhall Corsa, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and later released under investigation.

No further details were given at the inquest at Northallerton Coroner’s Court, which has been adjourned to a later date.

The family of Ms Cross previously described her as their "beautiful, quirky daughter" who was "taken from us far too soon".
