Firefighters have rescued a muntjac deer after it became stuck in the water.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) crews were called to save the animal after it got trapped in the River Soar, in Leicester, shortly after 13:00 GMT on Thursday.

The deer ended up stuck in the water with its head just above the surface of the water, the fire service said.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA has said the animal "had no major issues", and has since been released back to the wild.
