Several businesses were evacuated and a main road was shut in a town centre as police investigated reports of two "unexploded ordnance devices".

South Wales Police said officers were called to a building site in Cheapside, Bridgend, at just before 08:55 BST on Wednesday.

Brackla Street was closed from Castle Bingo down to the junction of Nolton Street, before being reopened after a device was "safely removed".

The force said officers returned to the site at 11:35 and again closed down the area after another device was found, which was also later removed safely.

The force added all cordons had been lifted and that Brackla Street "is now accessible to the public once again", thanking the public for their "patience and co-operation".
