NoW placed hacking lawyers under surveillance

The BBC has learned that a former police officer was hired by the News of the World to carry out surveillance on two lawyers, representing victims of phone hacking.

Derek Webb covertly followed lawyers Mark Lewis and Charlotte Harris. Mr Webb also filmed members of Mr Lewis's family - including his teenage daughter - on a shopping trip, which Mr Lewis said was "nothing short of sick".

Newsnight's Jeremy Paxman asked Mark Lewis how unusual it is for surveillance work of this sort to be undertaken.
