A closer look at growth within the Brics
Leaders of the world's emerging markets known as the Brics nations -Brazil, Russia, India, China and the latest addition, South Africa - are preparing to meet in New Delhi later this week to discuss their role in the global economy.
The Brics countries now account for roughly 40% of the world's population and about 18% of the world's gross domestic product.
However, rising energy costs and the uncertain economic climate in the US and Europe have affected their economic momentum.
The BBC's Ekaterina Drobenina in Moscow, Paulo Cabral in Sao Paolo, and John Sudworth in Shanghai took a closer look at growth within the nations ahead of the summit.
