Debt-ridden Catalonia asks for Madrid bailout

The Spanish region of Catalonia is asking for financial aid from the central government.

The region is struggling to meet its debt repayments despite the fact that it accounts for about a fifth of Spain's economic output.

It comes as official figures showed that Spain's economy contracted further in the second quarter, shrinking by 0.4% in the second quarter.

Tom Burridge reports.
