Queen secured the monarchy's future, says ex-Plaid leader

Former Plaid Cymru leader Lord Elis-Thomas has said the Queen and the Prince of Wales have secured the future of the monarchy by the way they have run it.

The Plaid AM, the Welsh assembly's first presiding officer, was reflecting on the Queen's achievements as she became Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

Lord Elis-Thomas told BBC Wales he could see no difference between a "democratically operated" constitutional monarchy and a presidency and what matters is "how it's done".
