Indian firms hope for single tax rate

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is due to present the nation's budget on Monday.

The government hopes it will be an opportunity to pass legislation for a single goods and services tax across the country.

Indian businesses want the single tax rate as it would reduce costs, particularly for shipping goods across state borders.

But it has proved tough getting state governments to give up their tax-raising powers.
