Outlander's Diana Gabaldon 'senses ghosts of Culloden'

Diana Gabaldon has said she believes the battlefield at Culloden is haunted.

The author - best known for the Outlander series of books - spoke of a metaphysical awareness during a visit to the site: "I can feel the people there, I can't talk about them or I'll cry".

The American writer was speaking about the inspiration behind the characters and locations of her books in new documentary to be shown on BBC Alba.
