Defence chief: 'There is a new risk to our way of life'

Chief of the defence staff Sir Stuart Peach has warned of a "new risk" to the economy and ways of living posed by Russia.

Speaking to the Royal United Services Institute defence think tank, he said undersea communications and internet cables were vulnerable to being disrupted.

"Russia, in addition to new ships and submarines, continues to perfect unconventional capabilities and information warfare," he said.
