Labour MP Stephen Pound says parliamentarians have "fought too hard" over the centuries to evacuate the Palace of Westminster just because building work to take place.

In a paean to the "iconic" building, he says it is not just a place of work but the home of democracy - and MPs must retain a "footprint" come what may.
