India's bookies lobby to take bets on all sports
In India, sports betting is banned. As a result there is a thriving illegal bookmaking market, thought to be worth many tens of millions of dollars.
In recent years gambling in casinos has been allowed in Sikkim and Goa, mainly attracting a domestic following.
The only sport where betting is legal is horse-racing, and the companies who operate in that area are lobbying to be allowed to expand into other sports.
