UK economy grew 'more than first thought'

The economy grew by more than initially thought in the second quarter of this year, boosted by a strong performance by the construction sector.

The Office for National Statistics originally estimated that the economy grew by 1.1% in the three months to June, but that has been revised up to 1.2%.

But many economists believe the growth may not last and that today's figures are the peak of any recovery.

John Moylan reports.
