Royal Mail privatisation 'a match-fix'

The government has said it will press ahead with legislation to part privatise the Royal Mail later this autumn, after a report into the future of Royal Mail recommended "urgent action" to protect the service.

It was an update of a report that Richard Hooper - a former deputy chairman of Ofcom - released in 2008 under the Labour government, though its proposals were not implemented because of political opposition.

Billy Hayes is the General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union, the CWU. He says the case for part privatising the service has not been made.
