BP to pay dividends by New Year

After the disastrous Gulf of Mexico oil spill, BP's new chief executive has told the BBC that he is confident the company will start paying dividends again in the New Year.

BP last year paid more than £6.7 billion in dividends but suspended them following the oil spill.

Bob Dudley, who starts the job on Friday, spoke to our business editor Robert Peston.
