IMF chief Strauss-Kahn on currency war dangers

The boss of the IMF has given a strong warning to countries who may be tempted to intervene in the value of their currency to keep their trade advantage.

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has told the BBC that he takes the threat of a global currency war seriously.

His comments come on the same day that the European Commission warned that the value of the euro, now at an eight month high to the dollar, could risk the eurozones recovery.

Mr Strauss-Kahn spoke to the BBC's economics editor Stephanie Flanders in Washington.
