Will banks reduce New Year bonus payout?

Britain's biggest banks are holding secret talks aimed at reducing the New Year bonus payments for staff.

They are under pressure from ministers to slash the payouts, in recognition of the economic climate. It has been suggested they could cut the total amount from £7bn to £4bn.
